About the Owner
The owner of The Cutting Edge Landscaping is Alexander Papp. Please call him Alex. Alex has two degrees in the field of horticulture. The first is an Associate’s degree from SUNY Farmingdale in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Development. The second is a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from the University of Delaware specializing in plant and soil sciences. Alex attends many classes during the off season covering topics including landscape design, hardscape and water garden construction, and business management.
Membership in industry associations is also important to Alex. He is a member of the NSLGA (Nassau/Suffolk Landscape Gardener’s Association), NYSTA (New York State Turfgrass Association), and Cornell Cooperative Extension. He stays abreast of news in the industry through numerous magazine, newspaper, and newsletter subscriptions.
Alex has been a resident of Garden City and the immediate area including Franklin Square, New Hyde Park and Mineola for thirty-three years.
The Cutting Edge Landscaping was started in 1987 working for neighbors within a few blocks walking distance. It lasted through middle school, high school and college- then kicked in to full gear upon graduation. Alex has been involved in landscaping and horticulture since the ripe old age of 12.
